The Design Process

Design is not just in our name but our DNA

Let’s face it - there are many brands selling rebadged mass-produced items. These products easily become ubiquitous, are often hard to fully trace, and ultimately fail to tell a unique story. From the start we wanted Vaunt Design to be different; as our name suggests we design all our products in-house, carefully iterating with our makers until we arrive at exclusive products we’re happy to put our name on.

Thanks to feedback from our ever-growing base of loyal customers, we're finely tuned into what works for UK homes and commercial spaces, allowing us to combine form and function to deliver memorable pieces that don’t just fill a space, but improve it.

The design process starts with ideas, and lots of them. But not every idea makes the cut. Designing is time-consuming, sometimes frustrating, and always demanding. We tweak and refine, ensuring each piece is something truly worth making.

Only a select few concepts move forward, passing our strict standards for originality, practicality, and craftsmanship. Every design must feel right, both aesthetically and functionally, before it earns a place in our collection. If it doesn’t excite us, it doesn’t make it to the next stage.

Prototyping

Once a design is chosen, it’s time to bring it to life. Our manufacturers create samples, turning sketches into something tangible. No design is released until we've flown out to our partners workshops to check the dimensions, finishes, and functionality of each prototype in person.

This stage is all about refining - making tweaks, adjusting details, and ensuring the piece is as good in reality as it was on paper. If something isn’t quite right, we fix it. Only when everything meets our expectations does a design move on to stage 3.

Production

Once a design is perfected, we move into production - but only in small batches. Every piece is handmade, ensuring attention to detail and expert craftsmanship. By avoiding mass production, we maintain high standards, reduce waste, and keep our collections carefully curated.

This method allows our manufacturers to focus on quality rather than speed, resulting in furniture that’s built to last. It also means our designs stay fresh and considered, rather than flooding the market. Each item we produce is made with care, precision, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Final Inspection

Quality control is everything, which is why we work with a dedicated five-person team that exclusively inspects our products all year round. Because they check only our items, they know exactly what to look for - any common pitfalls, the level of detail we expect, and the standards we refuse to compromise on.

Their expertise and focus on small batches mean that very few items slip through the cracks. It’s a crucial step that ensures every piece that reaches our customers meets the highest standards.

MEET THE MAKER

Stunning designs meet skilled craftmenship

Since our earliest trips abroad to find the finest craftspeople, we've been committed to building long-term partnerships that support both skilled teams and the communities around them. What started as a practical step has grown into a deeply rewarding part of our journey which now sits at the heart of what we do.

By visiting regularly we get to witness remarkable local skills first-hand while making sure Vaunt’s values are reflected at every stage. We're proud to invest in people, not machines.
