Sofa Care Guide

Handcrafted in Long Eaton, the historic centre of British upholstery manufacturing, all of our sofas are made to order using traditional techniques and premium materials. Each piece is designed for lasting comfort and durability. With regular care
and maintenance, your sofa will continue to look its best for years to come.

General Care

  • Vacuum upholstery regularly using a soft brush attachment
  • Plump and rotate cushions regularly
  • Avoid direct sunlight where possible
  • Keep furniture away from direct heat sources such as radiators and fires
  • Avoid sharp clothing details such as rivets or exposed zips
  • Avoid dark denim on lighter-coloured fabrics, as colour transfer may occur

Dealing With Spills

In the event of a spill, act quickly to help prevent staining and damage.

For liquid spills:

  1. Blot immediately using white kitchen roll or a clean, white, bleach-free absorbent cloth
  2. Do not rub the fabric
  3. Work gently from the outside of the spill inward
  4. Allow the fabric to air dry naturally

Avoid:

  • Harsh chemicals
  • Bleach
  • Abrasive cleaners
  • Excessive water saturation

If staining persists, we recommend consulting a professional upholstery cleaning specialist.

Important Cleaning Advice

Do not machine wash, bleach or tumble dry upholstery covers.

This may cause:

  • Shrinkage
  • Distortion
  • Colour change
  • Loss of texture
  • Damage to backing materials

For deeper cleaning, we recommend consulting a professional upholstery cleaning specialist.

Seat Cushion Care

All Vaunt Design seat cushions are reversible.

Some seat cushions feature a foam core with a feather-filled comfort wrap for a softer, more relaxed sit.

To maintain their shape and comfort, regularly:

  • Plump cushions where possible to help maintain the fullness of the feather filling
  • Turn cushions
  • Open the cushion zip and smooth or redistribute the feather filling by hand
  • This helps minimise uneven wear and maintain a fuller appearance over time

Caring For Wooden Elements

Dust using a soft, dry cloth. To remove marks, a mild detergent solution may be used, taking care to avoid contact with the upholstery fabric.

Avoid:

  • Silicone-based sprays
  • Harsh or abrasive chemical cleaners, including solvents
  • Excessive moisture
  • Direct heat and prolonged sunlight
  • Wax polishes

Note: Natural timber may develop subtle tonal variation over time as part of its natural ageing process.
